UK lighting industry organisation Recolight has introduced Recolight Revive, a service intended to extend the life of existing light fittings by upgrading their light sources and control equipment. The approach offers building owners and facilities managers an alternative to replacing complete luminaires during refurbishment.
The initiative covers options such as fluorescent-to-LED conversions, LED-to-LED upgrades and wireless lighting controls. Depending on the project, work can take place on site or at a specialist remanufacturing facility.
Recolight describes a process beginning with a site survey and sample evaluation, followed by a proposal, testing, documentation and recertification. The organisation says the service follows BS 8887-221:2024 for luminaire remanufacture and includes a five-year return-to-base warranty for completed products.
Engineering perspective: The engineering opportunity is to compare the condition of existing fittings with the technical, financial and environmental benefits of replacement. Keeping usable housings can reduce material waste and embodied carbon, while upgraded LED systems and controls may improve operational efficiency.

Hizmet kapsamında floresan sistemlerin LED’e dönüştürülmesi, mevcut LED sistemlerinin yenilenmesi ve kablosuz aydınlatma kontrolleri bulunuyor. Projeye bağlı olarak işlemler sahada veya uzmanlaşmış bir yeniden imalat tesisinde gerçekleştirilebiliyor.
Recolight, sürecin saha incelemesi ve numune değerlendirmesiyle başladığını; teklif, test, dokümantasyon ve yeniden belgelendirmeyle sürdüğünü belirtiyor. Kuruluş, BS 8887-221:2024 uygulama esaslarını takip ettiğini ve tamamlanan ürünler için beş yıllık merkeze iade garantisi verdiğini bildiriyor.
Mühendislik açısından: Mühendislik açısından temel soru, mevcut armatürlerin durumu ile tamamen yeni sistem kurulmasının teknik, ekonomik ve çevresel etkilerini karşılaştırmak. Kullanılabilir gövdelerin korunması malzeme atığını ve gömülü karbonu azaltabilir; LED ve kontrol sistemi yenilemeleri de işletme verimliliğini artırabilir.
